Blood is perishable and must be constantly replenished. At least 38% of the population is eligible to donate, yet only 8% of those eligible actually give blood. 39,000 blood donations are needed every day in America to meet the needs of accident victims, cancer patients, and other people with conditions requiring transfusions. That need is growing every day.
